"I Wasn't Ready"

The premier episode of one of my favorite shows "Orange Is The New Black" is titled "I Wasn't Ready".  As prepared as Piper Chapman was for prison, she realized she wasn't ready, this snippet of her getting her ID picture taken is how the episode got it's title. I'm excited about the surgery and feel "I AM READY! BRING IT".

I have worked hard over the last few months to change so many habits I have had for over 40 years. I've started eating more protein, started exercising again, cut down on caffeine, given up soda, etc.  I am proud of myself for that. In 2009, I could not imagine making these changes. The thought of not being able to drink with a meal was the one thing I could not get over. Now I can accept that reality. I am OK with it. I know that changes have to be made, but the sacrifices are small in comparison to the overall benefits-looking better and feeling better. It's really a change in your way of thinking and mind over matter.  I make an effort to speak to as many people who had the Sleeve surgery as possible and pick their brain in an effort to find out what to expect, knowing everyone's experience is different.

When I look back on this journey, I will say "I WAS READY" and hope to help others who are  in the middle of the process as I am now.

Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my new blog! I am an experienced blogger and wanted to share my experiences of my weight loss journey through Weight Loss Surgery (WLS). If all goes well, I will be having Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VGS), also know as the Gastric Sleeve in November. This surgery has been months in the making and it's unsure whether my insurance will approve it, but I am very hopeful.

I considered getting a lap band in 2009, but got about 2/3 through the process and backed out. In retrospect, I am glad I didn't do it, as many people are having complications now and are having them removed. I thin the sleeve is the right choice for me and I hope to lose 70 pounds, more would be fantastic. My goal is trade in my XXL and XL clothes and be a "happy medium".  I hope you will follow my journey!
